Jim Speirs, the Chair of Ascertiva Group, has been named as the next President of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI).
Jim has a long history of service to the CQI and its predecessor organization, the Institute of Quality Assurance (IQA). Jim previously served as President of the IQA (2005 to 2007) and played an important role in reshaping and restructuring the organization in the lead up to the award of the Royal Charter. Following the award in 2006, and the change of name to the CQI, Jim continued to provide direction as Chair of the Board of Trustees.
Jim began his quality career in manufacturing and procurement roles at the age of 18. He was appointed Managing Director of the NQA in 1994 and now serves as Chair of the NQA’s parent company, Ascertiva Group. Jim is also a Board Director and Chair of the Technical committee of The International Federation for the Safety of Electricity Users.
Jim Speirs follows Sir David Brown, former UK Chair of Motorola, as CQI President.
CQI Chief Executive, Simon Feary, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Jim Speirs as CQI President. With over forty years of experience in working to support and promote quality management in the UK and abroad, Jim’s expertise, experience and knowledge will be an invaluable asset, both to the Institute and the broader profession.”
Jim Speirs, CQI President, said:
“I am delighted to have been invited to take up the position of President of the Chartered Quality Institute and I am looking forward to working with internal and external stakeholders to further promote the benefits of quality management.
“Uncertainties in the global economy present tremendous challenges and opportunities for the quality profession. Now is the perfect time to remind people of the vital benefits that quality management can bring, from delivering greater efficiency and increased customer satisfaction through to higher employee motivation and improved reputation.
“Organizational success and economic growth should be premised on quality management approaches and everyone should be receptive to these messages now more than perhaps ever before.”
