Chartered Quality Institute Appoints New Chief Executive Officer

The CQI announces today the appointment of Simon Feary as CEO of the Chartered Quality Institute. Previously Director Operations at the CQI and long-time Director of International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA), Simon replaces interim CEO John Frame.

CQI Chairman, Jim Speirs, states: 'Feary's credibility and track record as a leader in the industry and his understanding of the organisation makes him the natural choice to take the CQI forward.'

A Chartered Biologist by profession, involved in safety testing within the pharmaceutical sector, Simon joined the CQI in 1994 as head of IRCA, the institute's auditor certification business.

Simon brings with him an impressive international profile. His leadership has increased the CQI's influence and reputation in the UK and internationally within the accredited certification industry through his activities as chairman of IPC (the International Personnel Certification Association) and as a member of IAF (International Accreditation Forum) and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) working groups charged with developing standards, guidance and best practice. Apart from this work Simon is now a regular speaker at quality conferences and events around the globe.

In addition to his work in developing IRCA into the world's recognised authority on management system auditor competence, Simon has been the pivotal in redefining the CQI's strategy in his role as Operations Director.

Feary indicates that: 'The award of the charter to the CQI was a significant achievement, but we recognise it brings a clear responsibility to promote the interests of UK plc. Quality is fundamental to good business practice and our goal must be to develop the CQI to be the indispensable champion of quality and excellence in and for the UK, and make CQI qualifications and quality professionals the must have for every organisation.'

In addition to his new position as CEO of the CQI, Simon retains his role as IRCA Director.
