RABQSA, the new organization consisting of quality bodies from America and Australia, has announced the suspension of its certification transition plan which required auditors to transition to a competency-based certification scheme. The 31 December 2006 deadline has now been suspended to allow auditors more time to decide on their preferred certification scheme: QMS, environmental, food safety or occupational health and safety.
Michael Carmody, CEO of RABQSA, said: ‘The message we have received from our customers throughout 2005 is that more time is required to allow auditors to decide on the value of transitioning from the current qualification-based certification schemes to the internationally recognized competency-based schemes’.
RABQSA will continue to offer both its traditional qualification and the new competency-based certification products until auditors have had sufficient time to make an informed choice as to the most appropriate scheme for their needs.
