IATCA changes identity

The International Auditor and Training Certification Association (IATCA) has ceased to exist and now, in its place, is the International Personnel Certification Association (IPC). With more and more sectors within business, industry and government requiring and benefiting from personnel certification, and with management systems now forming only a small part of the personnel certification market, IPC aims to expand IATCA's original remit and contribute more to these other areas.

Membership requirements have now changed: full IPC membership is now restricted to those personnel certification bodies who are accredited to the new standard for personnel certification bodies, ISO 17024. Personnel certification bodies may issue IATCA certificates until September 2006. If recertification becomes due after this time members will need to transfer to the new criteria.

The new criteria should be available later on in 2005, and are likely to have a different emphasis, ie a new focus on demonstrating defined competences by independent examination.
