IRCA launches ISO 50001 energy management systems certification scheme
IRCA has launched a new Energy Management Systems (EnMS) Auditor certification scheme coinciding with the launch of ISO 50001, ‘Energy Management Systems – Requirements’.
ISO 50001 provides a framework for industrial plants, commercial facilities or entire organizations to manage energy. The document is based on the common elements found in all of ISO’s management system standards, assuring a high level of compatibility with ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management).
The IRCA EnMS scheme is aimed at individuals with knowledge of and experience in energy management, providing access to the following certified training courses:
- IRCA EnMS Auditor/Lead Auditor course – 5 days plus examination
- IRCA EnMS Auditor Conversion course – 3 days plus examination
- IRCA Internal EnMS Auditor course – 2 days
- IRCA EnMS Foundation course – 1 day.
Once individuals have successfully completed the relevant course, they can apply for professional recognition as an IRCA EnMS auditor at the following grades:
- EnMS Provisional Internal Auditor
- EnMS Internal Auditor
- EnMS Provisional Auditor
- EnMS Auditor
- EnMS Lead Auditor
- EnMS Principal Auditor.
IRCA Director, Simon Feary, said: "The role of the EnMS auditor is to provide value by providing an accurate assessment of the organization’s ongoing capability to establish, implement and continually improve policy and objectives for energy performance, efficiency and conservation.
"IRCA's EnMS Auditor scheme supports that role by providing auditors with access to appropriate training and professional recognition and their stakeholders with confidence in auditors’ competence and capability."
