ISO certification uptake soars
Certification to ISO 9001 and to ISO 14001 increased by 16 per cent over 2006, the ISO Survey completed in 2007 shows.
During the same period, certification to more recent ISO management system standards for the automotive sector (ISO/TS 16949) and the medical device sector (ISO 13485) increased by more than 60 per cent.
The survey also covered the new ISO/IEC 27001 standard for information security management systems for the first time. Respondents revealed that nearly 5,800 certificates of conformity to the standard had already been issued in 64 countries.
