Dubai launches 'quality patrol'

Bringing a new meaning to quality control, the Municipality Centres Department in Dubai has launched a fleet of seven vehicles to assist with public quality service assurance.

The vehicles are fitted with warning and search lights to provide safety and security for quality department inspectors as well as for the public. While they search for cosmetic and health and safety violations on the city streets, the vehicles also display a toll-free number of the department in case a passerby wants to make a report. People can also send reports supported by photos to the bodies concerned.

Director of the Municipality Centres Department, Khalid Ali Bin Zayed, said the department also undertakes quality assurance services through its quality assurance inspectors, who conduct daily field visits in the new fleet to monitor the general appearance of the city.
