Food Safety
The primary customer requirement of any food product is safety.
ISO
22000 provides the food industry with an important model
for identifying, managing and improving the food safety risks
from food operations.
The IRCA FSMS professional programme has been developed in response
to the food industry's transition from inspection-focused practice
to the management system approach to risk management, supported
by a staged audit process based on ISO 19011. Our programme was
developed in partnership with the Food
Safety Authority of Ireland.
The FSMS professional programme supports the third party certification
of food industry quality management systems. We certify the
different categories of auditors - those employed by certification
body/registrars, consultants and internal auditors as well as
developing and promoting good auditor training and auditing
best practice.
Benefits to organizations
- Confidence that IRCA certified auditors have the appropriate
training and skills
Benefits to certification bodies
- Re-assurance that IRCA auditors employed to audit food organizations'
quality management systems for certification to ISO 22000:2005 are competent and committed to continuing
professional development

- Recognition that you can conduct process-based audits competently
against ISO 9001:2000 (with ISO 22000:2005) for clients world-wide
