Movements in IRCA Japan
IRCA Japan’s first advisory committee was held at IRCA Tokyo office on 10 September. This committee was the first technical meeting ever held in Japan independently from the IRCA head office meetings. Chaired by one of the user representatives, Mr Hata, the eight standing members present were from Japanese and international certification bodies, training organizations and experts from food and business continuity management industries.
An introduction from Vince Desmond, director of IRCA Japan, outlined the purpose of the independent committee, which is to further develop IRCA’s programmes. This was followed by a review of the terms of references through the active participation of the members. The meeting continued until the end of the afternoon with a discussion of the status of auditor competence.
The secretaryof IRCA Japan, Masayo Hachii , said: ‘The members were very eager to attend the committee and support IRCA activities in Japan. Japanese industries recognize the value of IRCA’s intention and what IRCA means by its mission statement.'
This committee will open up the participation of interested Japanese parties to the influential decision-making process for Japanese markets, in connection with the shared issues of international standardization.
