ISO Dubai 2008
HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, United Arab Emirates vice president, prime minister and ruler of Dubai, will be the patron of the ISO 31st general assembly.
The focus of the event, to be held in Dubai from 12-17 October, will be the expectations on international standardization for sustainable buildings. An open session on 15 October will address this topic, highlighting achievements and the development of future ISO standards.
Although only ISO members can attend the general assembly, non-ISO members can be invited to attend the open session. Meetings of the ISO committee for developing country matters, the technical management board and the council will take place during the week.
Sultan Bin Saeed Almansoori, United Arab Emirates minister of economy and chairman of the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology, said: ‘The United Arab Emirates has achieved international prominence in areas such as architecture, hospitality and construction and ISO Dubai 2008 is an ideal platform to outline these to ISO and its members.’
